Michael Collins Smith litigates civil and commercial matters, and supports Balick & Balick’s health law practice. Prior to joining Balick & Balick, Michael practiced insurance law with a major Northeastern firm, helping secure millions of dollars in insurance coverage for a broad range of policyholder clients, including the nation’s largest corporations and industrial concerns.Michael is devoted to public service, and performs substantial Pro Bono work. Michael has worked on diverse projects ranging from securing expungements for disadvantaged individuals, to seeking asylum in the U.S. for persecuted foreign nationals. Michael also serves as Reporter for the Delaware Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Committee as part of an ongoing effort to ensure fairness in the criminal justice system.
Michael graduated with high distinction from Seton Hall University School of Law, and previously, the University of Delaware. His honors at SHU Law include the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law, awarded to one member of his graduating class. Additionally, Michael served as Business Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review, and acted as President of the school’s Arts Law Society.
